Arithmetic, not judgment

The Flesch Reading Ease score comes purely from sentence length and syllable count — no grammar checking, no judgment of whether the content is actually good, just simple arithmetic on the text you paste in. A high score isn't automatically the right target for every blog: a technical tutorial aimed at experienced developers can reasonably score lower than a lifestyle post aimed at a general audience, so it's worth reading the score as one data point rather than a fixed goal every post should hit.
