Post Checklist
The link-in-comments trick, and what else is on this list
The link-placement item exists because of a long-observed pattern on Facebook: posts with an external link directly in the body tend to get shown to fewer people than the same post with the link moved to the first comment instead, since Facebook's feed algorithm favors keeping people on-platform. It's a workaround worth using when reach matters more than a slightly less convenient click, but it's still worth weighing against how much friction it adds for anyone trying to find the link.
The hook and the photo do different jobs
The first-line hook is what earns a tap on "See More"; the attached image or video is what earns the scroll-stop in the first place — a strong hook on a text-only post can still get scrolled past if there's nothing to catch the eye before anyone reads a word of it. Posts with attached media consistently reach more people than plain text, which is why it's its own checklist item rather than something folded into "write a good hook."
